Celebrating 120 Years!
Woodsboro Bank is proud to celebrate 120 years of serving the Frederick Community. We are grateful to our clients, colleagues, community partners, and shareholders who have made this anniversary celebration possible.
Woodsboro Bank started operations on May 1, 1899 in Woodsboro, Maryland. We were a community bank from the beginning when we constructed our original office building which still serves as our banking headquarters. The Woodsboro building was not only constructed for branch and bank operations, but it was where many community activities took place. Over the years, the building housed the town dentist, grocery store, Post Office, Woodsboro Historic Society, and the Woodsboro Opera House.
In 1995, the bank’s name was changed from Woodsboro Savings Bank of Frederick County, Maryland to Woodsboro Bank. During the mid-1990s, the bank expanded its footprint by opening our first stand-alone branch in Thurmont followed by our first Frederick branch location on East Street. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, we opened four more branches throughout Frederick, including in Downtown, West Patrick on the Golden Mile, and Guilford Drive. Today we have seven locations in Frederick County.
In 2006, as our commercial banking operations grew we opened a Commercial Banking Office in downtown Frederick on Carroll Creek. Earlier this year, the office moved to larger space in the classic Art Deco building at the corner of North Market and East Second Street. The custom renovated office puts us in the heart of downtown. This office houses our Commercial Lending, Business Development and Credit Teams.
“Woodsboro Bank has a special understanding and commitment to our community. This underscores the importance of community banks to the health of businesses, individuals, families, and community organizations. We are 120 years strong with an unwavering passion for our clients, colleagues, community and shareholders. We are energized about Frederick’s future and playing a vital role in its continued success” said Steve Heine, President & CEO of Woodsboro Bank.
