FCPS' Veteran in Education Service Award

Categories: Woodsboro Bank in our Community

We are pleased to support our veterans and privileged to partner with Frederick County Public Schools in awarding this year’s Veteran in Education Service Award to Dr. Fritz Baclawski, Urbana High School social studies teacher. This is our second year partnering with FCPS to honor a veteran at FCPS. Dr. Baclawski is a former member of the U.S. Army’s Old Guard and serving runs in his family, as his father was a WWII veteran and his grandfather was a WWI veteran.

Steve Heine joined with FCPS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Michael Markoe and BOE President Mr. Brad Young to present the award and congratulate Dr. Baclawski on November 28th. Earlier in November, Robin McConaughey joined with FCPS staff to recognize and congratulate all the nominees; Pamela Adams-Campbell, Andy Brown, David Goto, Tambuzi Pannell, Dr. Christine Samuels, Dr. Edward Schoder, Brian Smith and Charles Welch. Then on November 16th, Kim Arnold joined the FCPS prize patrol to surprise and congratulate Dr. Baclawski.

“It is very important to us to honor our veterans,” said Steve Heine, “they have given such sacrifices that should be recognized.”
